Are you one of those plumb-bobbers?

EZGO September 18th, 2008

Yes. I plumb-bob pretty much every putt. For those who don’t know what plumb-bobbing is - stand about 10-12 feet behind the ball in a direct line from yourself to the ball to the hole. Hold your putter vertically by the fingertips. Once you have lined the putter up with the ball and hole, close one eye (usually the left eye) The relative position of the hole to the ball will then change. This will give you a pretty good idea of the break of your putt. It works for me.

Why do people buy wood 3 and 5?

golfcarts September 18th, 2008

I don’t understand why people always buy 3 and 5 wood and not 4 wood. I use my 4 wood all the time and i love my 4 wood.

well it just really helps when you are really close to the green but too far away to use your pitching wedge.
i use my 5, when i have about 100 yards to go, and my 3 when i have less.
i never use my 4, but maybe that would’ve helped out my game yesterday.

i’m sorry if that didn’t answer your question but that’s the main thing that i know. oh and wood hits better, but that’s all i can say.

conversely a ball above your feet - aim right as it will go left

Golf Club, Golf cart September 18th, 2008

baritone is correct. you are thinking of a side hill lie below your feet - aim left as it will go right. conversely a ball above your feet - aim right as it will go left.

On a downhill shot you want to try to get your shoulders to be parallel to the ground and swing down through the ball along the slope of the hill. This helps to avoid topping or duffing the ball. It is still a more difficult shot than flat or uphill lie, but plan on more roll, or take less club, as you are delofting the iron on a downhiller. Good luck.

What price of golf club can the normal american people can afford to?

golfcarts September 18th, 2008

As for golf courses, they may actually see an increase in business. It has been shown that as the economy starts to sag, consumers cancel vacations and travel plans, opting instead for leisure activities closer to home. Local golf courses and driving ranges are often a first choice for these consumers.

One exception to this may be high-end country clubs. Consumers often cut such big-ticket luxury expenses quickly before making smaller, lifestyle-changing modifications to their budget.

If the economy continues to decline, then the general recession will begin to affect these other areas of the golf industry.
